Designed and made in-house right here in North Carolina, this carrier lets you integrate both the radio and the Talentcell 3000ma in one streamlined package ready for operating in the field or in the shack. The radio sits at a 33 degree angle when deployed, making visibility and operating easy! The Talentcell slides into the holder and locks in on the back to secure the radio in place, so it's easy to pack and unpack as a ready-to-go unit for the field.
I've been using the Talentcell 3000ma with my (tr)usdx for years, it is the perfect size and capacity combo especially when locked to the radio with our Removeable Talentcell case but I always had the issue of needing to prop it up to work the knob and buttons. Recently I designed a few integrated wedges for the FX-4CR, and realized that concept would work great for the (tr)usdx as well.
I had one more thing to deal with...I run the audio out through a potentiometer to my external speaker for a volume control, and also have a mic eq circuit I designed that needed to go somewhere. So I hollowed out the wedge and created little side shelves I call "tinker wedges" to hook these things up too without taking any more space!
Each "tinker wedge" covers half the inside distance, so you can drill holes in the faces for things like audio jacks, power jacks, or whatever else that will fit and put the electronic bits and wires inside. The tinker wedges lock into place once everything is installed. While I custom-made my sides, the blank side panels are easy to drill for whatever you can fit in there. Angled Dimensions with the Radio and Talentcell installed : approx. 3 5/8" tall, 4" wide, 4 3/8" deep to the standard front knob.
Notes: The tray is designed for the standard (tr)usdx dimensions (60mmx30mmx90mm), it will not fit with the QRP Labs metal case. Radio and Talentcell battery not included (sorry to have to state the obvious!)
