On offer, we have an original painting by New Zealand artist Aston Greathead. This, I believe, is acrylic on board, there could be some oil paint mixed in the texture. It is signed in red on the lower right "Aston Greathead". It is also signed on the back with the title "Lebig Range Tasman Valley" where he added his Kai Koura address. In the same blue ink he wrote "Won contests in Italy Ntnl. Watercolor award N.Z. Exhibited locally and overseas". Somebody else wrote "Aston Greathead (1921-2012 New Zealand)" and 11" X 16". In its frame, the exposed painting actually measures 10 1/2" X 15 1/2" and the frame is 13 1/2" X 18 1/4" X 1". It weighs 1 pound 9,6 ounces.
This is in excellent condition. The painting is powerful, bright, bold and clear. I thought there might be a scratch on the bottom left, but under my magnifying glass, it looks more like a tall weed. I do not know if this is one of Greathead's custom made frames; but it does look homemade. It has a few scratches and a small paint chip on a corner. This painting has not been examined out of the frame. As I am not an expert, on art please view my photographs for more description.
