1820's-1850's French Empire Neoclassical Porcelain Urn • Gold Gilt • French Royalty Art Scene • Bacchus On Side Handles

• A French antique dating between 1820-1850's

These porcelain urns were popular during the Louis Phillipe & Charles X era. These Old Paris urns often depict scenes of royalty, courting, and romance. Famous for their vibrant colors and figural handles, these make a great piece for anyone that desires Neoclassical Decor.

I believe this urn features the god, Bacchus, on the side handles. He was a Roman god known for wine, agriculture, fertility, ecstasy and revelry.

The front depicts a scene of a woman giving a royal man a gift of gold. The picture is in great condition, given its age.

The gold gilt and blue colors were a popular color combination during this era in France.

The gilt and blue are very worn in certain areas, giving this piece extra character and charm.

There is a small chip on the rim. Please see all photos for reference.

The urn is attached to a base with a metal rod and screw which has rusted over time. It is slightly loosened and could probably be professionally tightened, if desired.

There is a makers mark on the bottom (pictured above), but I am not sure who the maker is .
