Grow your own delicious crops of Britain's best known dessert cherry! 'Stella' trees reliably produce crops of firm, good-sized, dark red fleshed cherry fruits with the sweetest flavour! A Canadian bred variety, 'Stella' will make a productive and attractive addition to your patio or garden tree, looking attractive with its spring blooms and fabulous when laden with fruit – you can harvest your glossy, great-tasting homegrown cherries from mid-July to August each year. Its dwarfing ‘Colt’ rootstock makes this a superb patio tree or a fine focal point in a mixed border. Estimated time to cropping once planted: 2 years. Estimated time to best yields: 4 years. Cherry rootstock: Colt – semi-vigorous. This variety is self-fertile (pollination group 4) and does not require a pollination partner
Plant cherry trees in any well drained soil in a sheltered, sunny position. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole and drive the stake into the ground to support the tree. Staking after planting may result in damage to the root ball. Plant fruit trees at their original soil level and firm them into the ground. Fasten the tree to the stake using a tree tie, and water well. When growing cherries on the patio, use a large 60cm (24") diameter container filled with a soil-based compost such as John Innes No 3.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
