Coach Lou Henson announced his retirement at the end of the season, marking the end of his 21-year tenure at Illinois. Illinois won the game 81-73. Illinois was led in scoring by Jerry Gee, Kiwane Garris and Richard Keene. UIC was led in scoring by Mark Miller and Shawn Harlon.
