Vintage Croatian Pannonian Folk Costume Embroidered Linen Lace Apron Skirt

This amazing vintage Croatian Pannonian folk costume embroidered linen lace apron skirt dates from the mid 1900s. It is made of a linen flax and hemp fabric, with colorful silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidered flowers and leaves. There is an off white silk thread cutwork lace trim edging. This traditional Croatian Pannonian folk costume zaslon apron style wrap around skirt is seamed up the center, with a burgundy color satin ribbon waistband adjustable belted tie closure and is unlined with the exposed embroidery work backing identical to the front having wonderful workmanship making it reversible. It is from the vicinity of Sisak in the Posavian region. The skirt measures 36 inches long and 38 inches wide. It is in good condition, with only a tiny pin hole near the top. This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of Balkan wearable folk art!
