Intriguing raku sculptural urn from the highly collectible American artist George Whitten, who is best known for large ceramic pieces composed of drape-molded, slab-built and wheel thrown elements. This is a signed piece with the artist's signature on the underside. A true art collectible.

Features rich iridescent hues and deep shadowing of matte chocolate, copper, yellow, red, purple, blue and orange offset with a swath of rich turquoise glaze around the top rim. There is a beautiful deepening of color as your eye travels down from top to bottom. Free-form details add to the intrigue of the vessel. It would certainly make a memorable statement as a centerpiece or sitting anywhere in your home.

Excellent condition consistent with age. About 10.5" tall, 10.5" wide at widest point and 5.5" wide at the mouth. It looks different from every angle and changes with the changing light. There is a volcanic, industrial feeling to it and an unmistakable one-of-a-kind quality. If you are looking for a jaw-dropping, artist-signed gift that will be remembered for a long time, this is it.
