A review of this book in Publishers Weekly 1899 edition states, “The choicest fields of English and American poetry have been gleaned in the preparation of this volume, which ought to become a classic of its kind. Poems on a wide variety of songsters and other birds are here brought together for the first time.”
This book, along with others in my storefront, were recently retrieved from a storage unit where they have been packed away and untouched since 1969. Most of these books belonged to the daughter of the president of the American Book Company, a publishing company that was founded in 1890. Before his retirement in 1916, he also worked as the Chicago representative for the Harper and Brother’s company. These books were lovingly cared for before and after their period in storage and are in great condition for their age. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions!
