Four AFL trading cards series were released by Select Australia. The
release time sequence is: 1996 Centenary AFL Series 1, 1996 AFL Series 2, 1996
AFL Hall Of Fame and 1996 AFL Classic Metal Card Series.
40,000 numbered boxes of 1996 Select AFL Series 1 were released,
36 packs per box, 12 cards per pack. In most cases, 1 factory box delivers 1
base set (250).
Despite 40,000 boxes of 1996 AFL Series were produced, due to the
unprecedented marketing of the Centenary AFL by the League and also the
coverage by the media, this factory box has been very hard to locate recently.
The 1996 Select AFL Series 1 features the club’s Best and
Fairest chase cards for the first time in the card releases. The All
Australian Team is appeared in the base card set.
