STUNNING 1980s MEMPHIS / POST MODERNIST DESIGN
Presenting a magnificent vintage side plate in the highly appealing Black Cockatoo pattern designed by Wendy Cochran and Shane Kennedy, founders of Monkeys of Melbourne.
This stunning piece perfectly embodies all of the exuberance and energy of the 1980s Post Modernist Memphis design movement.
This piece features a series of four black cockatoos with spiky yellow crests and vibrant red sunglasses. Exotic floral blooms feature between the characterful cockatoos while dynamic spots and stripes of radiant colour feature atop a rich blue background. A red and black polka dot squiggle to the rich black rim perfectly frames the exuberant design.
This stunning piece, with its bold colour combination and dynamic design, would make an impressive statement piece in any 1980s Memphis styled home.
SIZE: This plate measures approx 190mms in diameter.
CONDITION: This piece is presented in good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The pattern remains rich and vibrant with some exceptionally minor wear from light use noticeable on close examination. There are some minuscule burst air bubbles to the glaze which is in the manufacture but mentioned for complete accuracy. The images are of the actual piece offered for sale and provides an accurate indication of overall condition. This plate presents very well.
MARKS: The underside of the plate is marked with black lettering "© 1989 Monkeys of Melbourne Made in Japan by Craftsmen Fine Porcelain".
