DESCRIPTION

A very smart set containing the memoirs of French nobleman, Philibert de Gramont. Complete in two volumes. 

In the original quarter cloth binding.

The material for this work was provided to Count Anthony Hamilton, Gramont's half-brother, by Gramont himself, and contain the intrigues of the English court under the reign of Charles II. 

Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty-three plates. Volume II is illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-six plates. 

Collated, complete. 

These editions are edited by Henry Vizetelly, a British publisher and writer who wrote several books while working in Paris and Berlin as correspondent for the Illustrated London News.


CONDITION

In the original quarter cloth binding. Externally, very smart. With sunning to the spines and light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Bookplate of one Lewis P. Cowan to the front pastedowns and bookplate of Everett E. Whitney to the rear pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
