The icon `Saint Nina - Enlightener of Georgia`.

We took a wooden board and applied gesso as a base for the icon.

The gesso is applied in several layers with intermediate sanding. Sometimes we leave cracks and chips on it, which give the icon a special, antique charm.

The image of the icon is applied to the gesso in a special way.

The size of the icon Saint Nina is 21 * 17 cm.

About the icon: 

Saint Nina, the enlightener of Georgia, is one of the most revered saints in Georgia. She was from Cappadocia in Asia Minor and was the first Christian to bring faith to Georgia.

Saint Nina was sent to Georgia in 324 AD by order of Emperor Constantine the Great to bring Georgia to Christianity. She began her mission from the city of Mtskheta, where she built the first church and began preaching Christianity.

During her life, Saint Nina performed many miracles, including healing the sick and raising the dead. Her veneration in Georgia began shortly after her death and continues to this day.

Every year on January 14, Georgia celebrates Saint Nina Day, which is a national holiday. On this day, people gather in churches to honor the saint and thank her for her work.
