Measurements are done with the item laying flat. Measurements for waist, hip, chest, or bottom of hem are doubled for ease when comparing to actual body measurements. I recommend comparing garment measurements to items that currently fit you well to help estimate fit as sizes can vary quite a bit, especially on older, pre-owned or vintage items. 

Chest - 42" (doubled)

Length - 26" (from the top of the shoulder to the hem)

Bottom of hem - 43" (doubled)
