Handmade - The icon base is traditionally for icon painting, a wooden board. The board is pasted over with linen canvas and gesso is applied. Levkas is, as is the traditional component of icon painting, a special primer based on chalk and glue.
On the gesso we apply the icon image itself and cover it with wax composition.

The size of the icon is 30 * 24 cm.

About the icon:

According to legend (according to the preface to the contribution book of the Donskoy Monastery from 1692), it was presented by the Don Cossacks from the town of Sirotin to the Moscow prince Dmitry Donskoy before the Battle of Kulikovo (1380).

In the Russian Church, the icon is revered as miraculous, and the celebration in its honor is held on August 19 according to the Julian calendar.
