Red Jacket (1750-1830) was a famed orator of the Seneca tribe of New York Indians. He lived from the time the Senecas were lords of Western New York, through the American revolution, and the dwindling of the Seneca's reserved lands. Besides Brant he was perhaps among the foremost leaders of the Iroquois League. This study appeared some forty years after Wm. Stone's biography of Red Jacket and provides a kinder view of the Seneca leader.
