Handmade icon of the Mother of God `Ozeryanskaya`.

Wooden board and applied gesso.

The gesso is applied in several layers with intermediate grinding. Sometimes we leave cracks and chips on it, which give the icon a special, antique charm.

The image of the icon is applied to the gesso in a special way. In doing so, we use our own technology developed in our workshop. 

The colors are kept rich and bright, and the texture of the image is very similar to a painting.

The size of the icon is 22*17 cm.

About the icon:

Not far from Kharkov, in the Preobrazhensky Kuryazhsky Monastery, a miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Ozeryanskaya was kept. According to legend, the icon was revealed at the end of the 16th century near the village of Ozeryany - hence the name of the icon; later, a monastery arose on this site, also called Ozeryanskaya.

They say that a certain Ukrainian peasant was mowing the grass and cut the icon of the Mother of God in half with a scythe... Realizing that his act, even if unintentional, was terrible for him and for those around him, the man picked up the two halves of the icon, reverently placed them in his prayer corner, lit a candle in front of it, and in the morning found the icon whole, with only a thin trace of the cut remaining.

The icon still has enormous, miraculous power.
