Description
The Burlington Route was a former name of a predecessor company to the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad; it served the upper mid-west area. After subsequent mergers/acquisitions, the company is now called the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and is one of the two dominant lines in the western portion of the US.
For auction is a very old passenger train ticket from the Burlington for travel to Galesburg, Illinois. From the agent's validation on it back, it is dated September 30, 1898.
The ticket measures appx 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches and is printed on light-weight paperstock. It is in very good condition, even though it is now over 125 years old. It has no rips or tears, and all writing/markings are associated with its issuance and use.
A great collectible especially for the Iowa railfan; shipped in a hard-side collectors plastic sleeve.
