This is an original press photo. Checking for gas pockets under a house slab in the 3400 block of Academy Drive in Metairie are two members of a special inspection team that began operation Friday. Carl Rieger, an inspector for the fire prevention bureau of the Jefferson Parish Fire Department takes a reading with a gas detector as Kevin N.
