DESCRIPTION

Up for your consideration is a late 18th C. European (likely English) needlework/embroidery on silk with painted details, c. 1780.  The piece is large, and a very fine example in excellent condition.  The glass in the piece has been replaced with a UV protected plexi-glass to preserve the fine silk and stitch work.  

It depicts a classical figure kneeling in front of the base of a tree with carved letters. It is signed "A.V.C." lower left, approximate image size 13" x 10", frame 19 1/2" x 16 3/4".

The embroidery is in excellent condition, and appears to never been out of its frame. If you notice, the embroidery is somewhat 3-dimensional with thicker weavings in areas. The (likely) original frame is recessed (like a shadowbox) to accommodate this thickness. It is also indicative of a piece of the highest quality.

The frame has wear/loss to the gesso/gilt and some minor restorations, commensurate with age and use. Please examine the pictures of the frame carefully.  The embroidery is in superb original condition, free of rips, tears, losses, or restorations. Modern, UV resistant glass has been added.

RETURN/REFUND POLICY:  We offer a full refund policy, but we must be contacted through eBay within 7 days after receiving the item. If a refund is requested, the buyer is to pay return shipping fees. The refund will be made once the item is back in our possession, and that it arrives in the same condition that it was sent.
