The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was a premier, single-seat German fighter aircraft that served as a backbone of the Luftwaffe alongside the Messerschmitt Bf 109.It was nicknamed the "Würger" (German for "shrike"), which Allied pilots translated to "Butcher Bird".The A-8 variant was produced in greater numbers than any other subtype and was a key player in the latter stages of the war.
The Fw 190A-8 was the final major production variant of the radial-engine "A" series. It began production in early 1944.
Total Fw 190 production of all types exceeded 20,000 aircraft.with more than 6,500 of the A-8 model built across various Focke-Wulf factories and licensees. The aircraft continued to serve until the end of the war in Europe in May 1945, with a few even serving with the Turkish Air Force until around 1948.
