What it is. A blank filler, not a drive carrier. It is a hollow rigid-plastic blank with no electronics, no connector and no drive in it. Its job is to fill an empty bay so the server's front-to-back airflow stays correct — a PowerEdge run with open bays pulls its cooling air through the hole instead of over the drives and heatsinks, and Dell ships one of these in every unpopulated slot for exactly that reason.

Fits Dell PowerEdge servers with 2.5" hot-swap bays — R320, R420, R520, R610, R620, R630, R710, R720, R730, R740, T320, T420, T620 and the equivalent blade and storage chassis.
