Handsome early Salviati of Ca’ Rezzonico on the Gand Canal in the Dorsoduro sistiere of Venice, Italy. This great Venetian Baroque/Rococo building has a remarkable history including ties to notables like Don Carlo, Duke of Madrid and art dealer Jacobo Querci della Rovere who sold the paintings of Rubens, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Canaletto, In the 1880’s the painter Robert Barrett Browning made it his own home and studio. His father, the poet Robert Browning died in the apartment in 1889 and American painter John Singer Sargent maintained a studio there as well.

Paolo Salviati was active in Venice from the 1870s through the 1890s with some sources having him active as early as the 1860s.
