Sokushinbutsu is a fascinating and rather extreme practice of self-mummification observed by some Buddhist monks in Japan. These monks would undergo rigorous ascetic training and follow a strict diet to gradually mummify themselves while still alive. The process involved consuming only tree roots, nuts, berries, and other natural elements to dehydrate the body and eliminate fat and muscle.

The goal of Sokushinbutsu was to achieve enlightenment and become a "Buddha in this body." The practice was believed to grant the monks access to a higher spiritual realm where they could protect and guide humans on Earth. This practice was particularly associated with the Shingon school of Buddhism and was inspired by the teachings of Kūkai, the founder of Shingon Buddhism1. We created this tee shirt to showcase the practice.

The 100% cotton unisex classic tee will help you land a more structured look. It sits nicely, maintains sharp lines around the edges, and goes perfectly with layered streetwear outfits. Plus, it's extra trendy now!
