DESCRIPTION

A charming mid-nineteenth century travel guide to London, a brilliant tourist guide to the city.

A scarce work.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, depicting the Crystal Palace, an engraved title page, three plates, and in-text engravings.

'London As It Is To-Day' offers concise descriptions to many of the beautiful and historical sights of London, including the theatres, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the docks, various monuments and public statues, the British Museum, the newly opened Madame Tussauds, and more.

With adverts to the paste downs and front endpaper, lacking the rear endpaper.


CONDITION

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with loss to the head and tail of the spine, and a smaller amount of loss to the extremities. Spine is faded. Light rubbing and marks to the cloth. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm, rear hinge is starting. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Lacking the rear endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean, with a few scattered spots, heavier to the first and last few pages.
