The correction Faux Fur Half Pad is an affordable pad & economical priced. This pad raises the saddle correctly providing a secure, comfortable fit. The top of the pad features a beautiful diamond quilt pattern with a fleece underside and faux fur edging. Measures 25" along the spine with a 12" drop (at the widest point).
Half pads are designed to cushion your horse's back and minimize the impact that your weight has on him. Half pads help to distribute your weight across your horse's back, eliminating sensitive pressure points and making your horse more comfortable.
An English rider, has probably used a half pad. The half pads are used to add additional cushioning between your saddle and your horse's back, and some can even be adjusted to alleviate minor saddle fit issues.
Half pads have some benefits, but at the same time there are times when using one may actually do more harm than good. For example, it will be detrimental to use if, if your saddle either fits your horse just right or especially if it might be too narrow. Like if you have shoes that fit your feet perfectly with a thin pair of socks, wearing a thicker pair will make them tight and uncomfortable.
The same idea applies to a half pad. If your saddle fits your horse well, adding more padding can create a situation where the saddle becomes too narrow and causes discomfort no matter what material you use.
