This 358 page book was published by The Macmillan Company, and it is a 1944 1st Edition SIGNED by the author, Edward Reilly Stettinius Jr., who was Secretary of State for FDR and Truman (1944-45) as well as Administrator of the Lend Lease Program from 1941 to 1943!! The inscription is to ROBERT WOODS BLISS, one of the co-founders of the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection in Washington, DC, and his book plate is loose inside!! There is no dust jacket!! The boards have minor surface, edge and corner wear with a faded spine and a little rubbing on the spine top, there is the loose book plate inside and the stains shown in the photos from the plate, as well as the inscription, and signature of the author!!
