This honorable badge in the form of a cross on a blue ribbon with white edges was established by the ordinance of the Supreme Civil Authority in Upper Silesia of May 30, 1921 and issued by the Supreme Command of the Insurgent Forces in Upper Silesia until 1924. It was included in the system of state decorations on April 22 1922 and modified on May 15, 1931. It was given to participants in the battles for the liberation of Upper Silesia in any of the three Silesian uprisings
