1977 Press Photo Curt Russell, director & curator of Gallier House honored
This is an original press photo. In the camera's eye at the party honoring someone who's usually in the other corner are Miss Nadine Carter Russell, director and curator of Gallier House, the party site, Curt Bruce, photographer of 'The Great Houses of New Orleans,' and Mrs. Richard Freeman Sr., first to have the book autographed. Photographer Curt Bruce's pen clicked at Gallier House the other night for a "Victorian gathering" as his camera's shutter had clicked for months before the party in his honor. The purpose was to introduce the young photographer to the board, trustees and patrons of the famous Gallier-designed house on Royal Street that is now a museum. A photograph of the museum/house appears on the cover of "The Great Houses of New Orleans," a book of photographs and focusing mostly on Victorian architecture and text by the honoree. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 05-28-1977.
