An entertainment presenter and graduate of the Hong Academy of Performing Arts, actress Rachel Lam received her big break with director Jimmy Luk's The Merger. Lam wrote, co-produced and stars in this artful drama about Yip Heung Heung, a fiery young woman in 1990s Hong Kong who defied traditional norms and paid a terrible price. Heung Heung's story is relayed via flashback, as her daughter, Ga Ga (Kathy Yuen, La Brassiere), seeks to discover more about her mysterious mother in the present day.
In 2012, Ga Ga works as a summer intern for quirky teacher Chan Ga Kern (Patrick Tam, Beast Cops), who was enamored of Heung Heung in 1992 when she was a student and he was a teaching assistant. But Heung Heung really loved her teacher, Ku Wah Son (Frankie Lam), and after some resistance he would return the feeling. But if discovered, their relationship could destroy Ku Wah Son's career and also Yip Heung Heung's future.
The Merger won 27 awards at various film competitions worldwide, including the Depth of Field International Film Festival Competition and the Accolade Global Film Competition.
