Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person.

1966 Press Photo Tokyo's Ginza Street crowded with traffic, Japan - lrx83366

This is an original press photo. Prosperity has brought Japan big wage boosts, zooming prices accompanied by housewives' protests -- and huge transportation headaches. Commuter trains, subways and buses are overcrowded to the point of inhumanity. And this scene along the Ginza Street, one of the busiest centers in Tokyo, shows what drivers -- and pedestrians -- face. Vehicles even run on streetcar tracks -- when they're not halted by traffic jams.Photo measures 9 x 7.25inches. Photo is dated 11-11-1966.
