In full Bickers and Son vellum binding, with marbled endpapers.

An intimate biography concerning the life of British courtier Margaret Godolphin, written by her chosen mentor John Evelyn. 

In honour of his friendship with the young woman, Evelyn produced a 'masterpiece' of religious biography after her death, remaining as a manuscript in the possession of his family before being edited by Samuel Wilberforce, bishop of Oxford, for publication. 


CONDITION

In full Bickers and Son vellum binding. Externally, smart. With spotting and dust dulling to the boards. Light rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with scattered spotting to the frontispiece and title leaves only.
