Description

The Canadian Pacific Railroad (CP) is one of the two major railroads serving Canada; it has over 14,000 miles of trackage in both Canada and the United States. Its lines stretch from Montreal in eastern Canada to Vancouver on the Pacific Coast, with extensions into the US as far as Chicago, New York, Detroit and Philadelphia. Over the years, the CP also owned and operated an airline, steamships, ocean ships, lake steamers and hotels, but it has divested itself of these interests.

For auction is a promotional timetable for the CP's trans-continental passenger train, "The Canadian". The timetable covers the summer season, April 25, 1965 - October 30, 1965, It was a modern, stainless-steel domed streamliner. The train operated daily between Montreal and Toronto destined for Vancouver. It passed through Calgary, Banff and Lake Louise. Trains in Vancouver connected to steamers to Seattle, Victoria and Nanaimo. The timetable shows arrival/departure times for stations served and has both westbound and eastbound listings. The trip between Montreal and Vancouver took slightly over 70 hours; between Toronto and Vancouver, 66 hours.

The brochure has brief summaries of the CP's airline, hotel, steamship, telecommunications and express services.

This item measures appx 5 1/2 x 4 inches closed, opens to appx 8 x 5 1/2 inches, and is printed on mid-weight cardstock. It is in excellent condition, with no rips, tears, folds, writing or markings.

A nice item for the Canadian railfan.
