ANTIQUE OVAL HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN FRAMED PLAQUE, IMPRESSED MR, CIRCA 1870S

 

Antique hand painted oval porcelain plaque from the 19th century. Artist signed and hand painted. Titled "Lex Pensee" after Angelo Asti impressed with a round circle with MR in the middle.

The porcelain plaque is high quality skillfully painted and depicts a young Victorian dark haired young woman in a wistful romantic pose.

CONDITION

Excellent condition with no surface scratching, and with no restorations, no chips or cracks, no missing paint or repairs in porcelain and in a original gilt gesso wooden frame, clean intact condition with no structural issues. Wear is consistent with age and use.

APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS

The visible portion of the plaque: 5 in. high x 3-15/16 in. wide 

The dimensional carved frame: 11 in. high x 10 in. wide..

The framed artwork weighs in at 3 lbs 1 oz.

This piece displays beautifully and would be a wonderful addition to a collection.
