An attractive first edition [referencing Copac] of mile Gachet's Glossaire Roman des Chroniques Rimes.
An eighteenth century French historian and writer, Gachet was a scholar of Belgian. Here he compiles a glossary of terms used in tales of Belgian knights of the Middle Ages and the contemporary French translation and explanation. This includes Godfrey of Bouillon, one of the leaders of the first crusade, the story of the Swan Knight and the crusades, and the legend of Gilles de Chin.
CONDITION
In a half calf binding with gilt detail. Externally, smart with some rubbing. Ex libris bookplate to front pastedown. Library label to the spine. Ex libris bookplate to the front pastedown. Pencil annotations to front free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with light spotting to first and last. Library stamp to title pages.
