A very unique Yacht Racing Trophy that was never awarded. Probably because it was damaged, the base has several big chips.
Engraved on its top "American Yacht Club" and "Awarded to".
Made from cut glass and what looks like plated gilt metal, this Art Nouveau Decanter is likely from the early 1900's.
12" tall X 6" wide approx. This decanter has several chips on its bottom and the hinge is intact but loose. I see no cracks in its body & the metal has pitting.
The American Yacht Club is located in Rye, New York and was founded by robber baron Jay Gould and a group of his friends in 1887, so its not older than that!
A great addition to your trophy collection...
