DESCRIPTION

The first edition of this vanishingly scarce work.

A comical novel, following the young Adolphus, who has great expectations for inheritance from his wealthy old uncle, Sir Roger Brightbridge. However, Sir Roger suddenly marries and equally old Arabella. The couple disappear for a while and reappear restored to youth and vigour, after taking the thyroid glands of two healthy young people and grafting them onto their own organs - in a shocking twist it turns out that these glands were taken from two cannibals, and thus the plot continues with entertaining gastronomic tastes and moral behaviour of Sir Roger and Arabella.

Written by John Bagley.

Six pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.
