One of Erasmus' best known works, 'Colloquies' is a collection of dialogues on a wide variety of subjects, such as war, religion, travel, literature, sleep, and funerals.

This edition includes a brief life of Erasmus.

Erasmus was a noted Dutch philosopher and Christian scholar, one of the greatest scholars of the Renaissance.


CONDITION

In a rebacked calf binding. Externally, original boards are rubbed and discoloured, with a small amount of loss to the extremities. Spine is very lightly rubbed. A few light marks to the boards. Frontispiece is adhered to the front paste down. Bookplate to the front paste down. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots and handling marks. Small ink mark to the margin of pages 27 to 32. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso of the title.
