Breaking In Your New Holster

Wet molding can lead to leather fibers tightening, which may cause the holster to "shrink." If your firearm feels overly tight when first holstered, do not force it. Forcing it could make removal difficult later. Instead, follow these steps to break in your holster using a method called blocking:

  1. Prepare the Firearm: Place your unloaded firearm in a plastic freezer bag or wrap it with 2-3 layers of plastic kitchen wrap, ensuring the grip remains uncovered.
  2. Insert the Firearm: Carefully slide the bagged or wrapped firearm into the holster, gently twisting side-to-side to avoid tearing the bag or wrap.
  3. Twist for Fit: Once the firearm is fully seated, twist it about 1/16" in both directions 6-12 times.
  4. Let It Sit: Leave the bagged firearm in the holster overnight or for approximately 8-10 hours.
  5. Remove and Test: After the time has elapsed, take the firearm out of the holster and remove the bag or wrap.
  6. Final Fit Check: Insert the unloaded firearm back into the holster. It should fit snugly but not be overly tight. If it remains too tight, repeat the previous steps until you achieve a comfortable fit.
