It looks as though the box may have been opened at one point and then the tape was put back on. There’s also a large brown stain on the box that has dripped along the plastic part and onto more of the cardboard. Plastic part of box is also pushed inward. There’s an old clearance price tag on it, so it’s likely this happened in store back in the day. Furby does not look to have been removed from box, and still looks to be twist tied to box.
