Nice Underwood view showing the steam cloud and mud flows following the eruption of Mount Pelée, on then Island of Martinique in the French West Indies, which destroyed the town of St. Pierre in1902.The Underwood photographer sent to photograph the aftermath was A.C. Leadbeater who operated the Underwood & Underwood studios for 15 years before opening his own studio in Hillside, New Jersey in 1932.
