DESCRIPTION

The very scarce first edition of this work from English novelist John Bloundelle-Burton.

Having worked as a journalist for The London Standard, Bloundelle-Burton began writing novels in 1885, publishing sixty works in total.

Set during the Spanish War of Succession, this novel follows the journey of a young captain and his crew as they navigate the treacherous waters of the Mediterranean, in search of new lands and riches. An immersive and well researched work of historical fiction.

A leaf to the rear identifies this volume as having been printed in Chicago in 1897.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Small mark to back strip tail, with shelf wear to back strip tail. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
