2024 & 2025 Owners: In 2024, Ford changed the latch mechanism to eliminate the vulnerability found in earlier models making it more difficult for thieves to jimmy the latch mechanism.

Background:

Thieves can steal your tailgate and tail lights in less than 30 seconds, even when your truck is locked. Replacing a stolen tailgate or tail lights can cost thousands. We know because our tail lights were stolen twice.

Thieves have at least 2 methods for opening a locked tailgate. First, they can reach in your bed and using only a finger, flip a detent on the latch mechanisms at each end of the tailgate. Or, they can use a screw driver inserted into a half-inch access hole in the middle of the tailgate, on the bed side. Behind this hole is a hidden release lever to unlock and open the tailgate. Few owners know that this hidden release lever even exists.

LatchLid blocks access to the latch mechanisms when the tail gate is closed. In this kit, we also include tamper proof screws for the tail lights and a fastener to block access to the hidden release lever.

LatchLid is made in the USA. It is made of 16 gauge steel and is finished in black powder coating. Install it as is, or prep and then paint or spray with a bed liner to match your truck.

LatchLid can be installed in minutes. No cutting or drilling required.

The LatchLid Kit includes:

- LatchLid Plates (qty 2) to block access to the latch mechanism on each end of the tailgate

- Stainless-steel tamper proof screws and washers (qty 4 each) to replace the factory tail light fasteners

- Nylon spacers (qty 2)

- 1/4" bit for installing / removing the tamper proof screws (qty 1)

- Stainless-steel fastener (bolt, washers, and lock nut) to block access to the hidden release lever
