Folio. (12.5" x 18.75") 3 Folios.1892. . Dohme, Robert. Berlin: Verlag Von Ernst Wasmuth. 198 of 200 plates. Printed thick boards with blue cloth spines and corners with cloth ties. Edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed. Cloth spines with closed tears, vol III's spine with inelegant taped repair. The plates appear fine although the fore-edge of some with small chips and tiny closed tears inherent to a folio, not affecting text or image.
These three folios feature photographic plates of the interiors and exterior architecture of palaces, castles, gov't. buildings, grottos, homes, courts and more throughout Germany, France, and more including Dusseldorf-Benrath, Berlin and Surroundings, Bruchsal, Bruehl, Danzig, Dresden, Erfurt, Heidelburg, Karlsruhe, Kopenhagen, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Mainz, Mannheim, Muenchen, Paris and Surroundings, Prag, Rastatt, Rothenburg O.D. Tauber, Stettin, Strassburg I.E., Stuttgart and Surroundings, Wein, Wurzburg, and Zurich. Each plate printed on heavy paper with description of where, when and for whom, ready for framing. A 48 page booklet accompanies the plates with more detailed information of each area.
I can't help but wonder how many of these buildings still exist after surviving two World Wars, multiple Governments, and 130+ years. The interior shots with the furnishings are spectacular in their ornateness, allowing one to imagine themselves in the opulence of the period.
