DESCRIPTION

A very scarce first edition of this work.

In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with illustrated paper boards.

With four leaves of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Compared to the likes of Jane Austen for its satirical take on social manners, this work centers on the relationships between two families. The Marshes, an unpretentious family with small-town ties, and the Hubbards, Chicago elitists with repressive social ethics.

For the time of its publishing, Wyatt compares and contrasts the conventions of romantic fiction to an impressive degree.

CONDITION

In the original quarter cloth binding with illustrated paper boards. Externally, very smart with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Scattered handling marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout.

Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed
