Women in combat roles debated - the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment by Congress has spurred debate on the capability of women in combat roles. If the amendment is ratified by 38 states, women may be subject to the draft and possibly combat duty. Women exposed to battle is not uncommon in such countries as South Vietnam, Ireland, and in Israel.
