1967 Press Photo Harvey Canal, waterway of industry in Louisiana - noc99023

This is an original press photo. Harvey Canal - waterway of industry --- "Verret Street?" the cabdriver scratches his head. "Well, if you don't mind, I'll just stop at the first gas station and ask - unless you can tell me how to get there." "Franklin Avenue? You sure you want to go across the river? Franklin Avenue's in Gentilly." So rapidly is New Orleans growing these days that the expansion of the city and its satellite communities has outraced the everyday knowledge of many of its citizens. Even the veteran cabdriver, a guy who would blush if he had to ask his way anywhere between the river and the lake on the East Bank and who can knowledgeably follow the outreaching tentacles of our metropolis up the Airline Highway or out Michoud way, isn't really hip about the West Bank.Photo measures 10.25 x 8inches. Photo is dated 07-02-1967.
