This is an original press photo. A view of Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, shows the city's clustered houses with snowy mountains towering in the background. Only about a quarter of the island, a harsh land of mountains, volcanoes and glaciers, is habitable. And more than half the island's population is found in the southwest, in Reykjavik and the surrounding lowlands. Thirty miles south west of Reykjavik is the American-manned NATO base.Photo measures 11 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated 2-5-1971.
