CALISAYA BLUES is an historical play of magic realism by Louis Maistros, based on his acclaimed New Orleans novel, THE SOUND OF BUILDING COFFINS. It is the story of Dr. Jack, a Storyville era abortion doctor, who keeps an appointment with prostitute Hattie Covington to advise her of the pros and cons of his "cure." Dr. Jack's assistant, young Typhus Moringstar, has been charged with the disposal of the tragic results of said cure -- and there is magic in his method. A tragedy of the heart yields redemption of the strangest kind in this darkly spiritual drama. More information at CalisayaBlues.Com.
