Shreveport Louisiana Youree Drive Extension Street View Old Car Postcard
Youree Drive is named after one of the most influential businessmen ever to live in Shreveport. Not only was he a banker, he was a Civil War Captain, and owned a real estate firm. His name was Peter Youree. For a time he owned the Shreveport Street Railway and was president of the Shreveport Waterworks Company. He was president of the Merchants and Farmers Bank, and then became president of the Commercial National Bank. He directed the construction of Shreveport's first skyscraper, the ten-story Commercial National Bank Building, for its headquarters. He also financed the construction of his massive Youree Hotel, later called the Washington Youree Hotel in downtown Shreveport. At the time of Peter Youree's passing in 1914, Youree's wealth was estimated at $2 million.

Most of the company's postcards had white borders. The company employed offset printing beginning in 1907 and began producing linen postcards in the early 1930s. The Curt Teich Company employed various credit lines, including Curteich-Chicago, C. T. American Art, and C. T. Photochrome. After 1930 card numbers began with a number corresponding to the last digit of the year it was published in followed by a letter series denoting the decade.
