A very scarce first edition.

Edward Hutton's charming treasury for children, a festive work compiling a selection of tales.

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, thirty-one full-paged and in-text colour illustrations, and monochrome illustrations.

Collated, complete.

Authors included in this volume are E. V. Lucas, Victor Hugo, Hans Christian Andersen, Charles Lamb, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edith Nesbit, Evelyn Sharp, and more, with tales including 'The Monkey's Revenge', 'Beauty and the Beast', 'La Fleur et le Papillon', 'The White Persian', 'Santa Claus' Little Ways', and more, with a total of twenty-nine tales. 

Illustrations contributed by Arthur Rackham, W. H. Robinson, Winifred Green, and more. 

Edited by Edward Hutton, a notable author who is better remembered today for his travel works, many of which focuses on Italy.

CONDITION

In the original publisher's decorative cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light marks and discolouration, as is usual with white cloth. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light rubbing to the boards, with a small amount of loss to the rear board. Small chip to the rear joint. Front hinge is strained. Internally, binding is a little strained in places. Lacking the front endpaper. Pages are bright and clean, with a few occasional spots and handling marks.
